What do utility contractors need from a paving sub?

Mostly trench and pothole restoration that meets the road owner's spec, done fast enough to close out permits. Expect saw cutting, base repair, and matching the existing pavement. Some towns require an infrared or mill and overlay repair on bigger openings.

Temporary or permanent patch?

Many towns want a temporary patch right after the trench is backfilled, then a permanent patch after the ground settles. The permit usually says when the permanent patch is due. Price both separately.

When does paving season end?

Paving depends on air and ground temperature, and plants close for winter in cold climates. Specs often set minimum temperatures for placing asphalt. Cold patch can hold a repair until the plants reopen.
