How to land more of it

- Get the owner to confirm the property line in writing, or ask for a survey, before you set a post.
- Commercial specs call out post size, depth and footing. Price the spec, not your usual.
- Temporary fence is steady work with site contractors. Say if you own panels and deliver them.
Common questions
Do I need to call 811 to set fence posts?
Yes. Post holes are digging, and fence lines often run right over service lines, irrigation and buried dog fence wire. Call 811 for the utility lines and ask the owner about private lines, which 811 does not mark.
Who is responsible for the property line?
The owner. Ask for a survey, or have them show you the line and sign off on the layout before you dig. Many towns also set height and setback rules and require a permit, so check before you order material.
What is different about pool fence?
Pool barriers have their own code rules on height, gaps, climbability and self-closing, self-latching gates, and the inspector will check them. Get the local code before you quote a pool enclosure.
